All concerts begin at 12:10 and end at 12:40. A light lunch is available for purchase following each performance.  

 The Music at Noon concert series honors the memory of Marguerite Francis, mother of renowned Memphis musician David Francis. The series presents the talents of seasoned and emerging professionals.   


 

January

January 13 - Veteran Memphis singer/songwriter/recording artist Van Duren performs selections from his soon-to-be-released new album Resonance Road as well as other highlights from his musical journey.

January 20 – BUMC’s assistant music director and organist Karen Strawhecker  showcases the grandness of the church’s Kimball organ.

January 27 – Mezzo soprano Amanda McGee shares a mixture of favorite art songs and arias.

February

 February  3 – Trisha Phillips, soprano and University of Memphis graduate student, provides a day of variety in song.

February 10 – Accomplished opera singer Mary Wilson shares a selection of works from her favorite operas.

February 17 -  The Rhodes Jazz Ensemble offers a variety of selections that are sure to get your toes tapping.

February 24 – Stepnen Albart, a lyrical baritone from south Florida, shares his passion of music with a lunchtime recital of operatic aria and art song.  

March

 March 3 –  Richard Wright brings “Favorites for the Theater Organ” to the Music at Noon stage.

March 10 – Stephen Carey, Opera Memphis’ Assistant Artistic Director, Chorus Master and       Rehearsal Pianist brings the church’s grand piano to life during his performance of selected works.

March 17 – Oboist Courtenay Harter and organist Jane Gamble perform works for oboe and organ, including Night Song by Craig Phillips and Variations on "Amazing Grace" by Calvin Hampton.

March 24 –  Sopranos Brigid Hannon, Laura McLain and Rebecca Rieger from Rhodes College         accompanied by Brian Ray perform celebrated songs and arias.

March 31 – No concert, Easter week

April

 April 7 –  Award-winning, singer/songwriter Jimmy Davis, whose songs have been recorded by Martina McBride, Restless Heart, Reba Russell and others, brings a lively performance to the Music at Noon audience.

April 14 – Trombonist Mark Vail showcases the versatility of this wonderful brass instrument.

April 21 -  The Sunday Traffic Brass Quintet brings a variety of selections to share with the Music at Noon audience.

April 28 – Richard Wright and John Ross: Favorites from the 1940s featuring woodwinds, piano and guitar.  

May

May  5 -  Organist Phil Brown offers a program that showcases the beauty of the Kimball organ.

May 12 – The Artist-in-Residence Quartet from Opera Memphis showcases why the company is one of the premier art organizations in the MidSouth.

May 16 – David Francis and friends take to the stage in a celebration of all things grand                        as the inaugural season of Music at Noon completes.
