In 1999 while on a medical mission trip to Kota, India, several members of Bartlett United Methodist Church met and befriended two college students – Amol and Rachel. After the second team of missionaries returned from India it was evident that while the relationship between Amol and Rachel blossomed into marriage, the relationship between BUMC and the Pawars had deepened into devotion and support for their new ministry in Nagpur. Three church members traveled once again to India in 2002 to visit Amol and Rachel and see first hand the Nagpur Training Center and the works being done there. It was the team's feeling that the vision Amol and Rachel had for their training center and growth into a school and orphanage was a vision that Bartlett UMC should support both monetarily and with mission teams in years to come. Since that time, BUMC has sent several mission teams to India. An 8 member team went to Nagpur in 2004 to help teach at the Bible school and provide medical care to the students and local villagers. The medical need was so great that in 2005 and 2007 medical teams traveled to Nagpur and held clinics in surrounding villages. During the 2005 trip, it was the teams pleasure to participate in the ground breaking ceremony for a new building that will house the Nagpur Training Center's school and church in town. In 2007, we also took part in a ground breaking ceremony for the new compound on the outskirt of Nagpur. We look forward to sending more teams in the year's to come and continuing our support of spreading the Good News in India.
