The Bartlett United Methodist Youth are an active group of young peole who enjoy life and are willing to share their lives with others. The following activities are part of the history of our group and will probably be a part of our future as well!

U.M.Y.F.
This is it! The Bartlett United Methodist Youth Fellowship - that wonderful, fantastic group of youth that meets every Sunday evening at Bartlett United Methodist Church Life Enrichment Center. We are one of the most exciting youth groups in the entire Mid- South....don't believe it?....ask us! :) We meet each week at 5:00, have Snack Supper at 5:15 (Cost: $1)served by the best cooks in town, and have our programs of fellowship and friends until 7:00pm. This is where the action is and where you find out about all the youth events! We will be looking for you and remember - you can always BRING A FRIEND! |

BIBLE STUDY
Meeting every Wednesday night following the Church-wide dinners, our Bible Study group of 7th-12th graders get together to look at the scriptures and discuss what it means to us. This is an informal meeting that can be really fun as well as an opportunity to learn a little more about God's word and our role in God's world. ALL ARE WELCOME! |

LIVE NATIVITY SCENE and CHRISTMAS PARADE FLOAT
Ttraditiosn at Bartlett for many many years!!! The Live Nativity scene is a really exciting way the youth can spread the REAL message of Christmas during the hustle and bustle of the holidays to the community of Bartlett. The nativity costumes are ready for you to dress up as a king, shepherd, Mary , Joseph or even an ANGEL in this wonderful spectacle for the Bartlett Christmas Parade as well as the week before Christmas and a delightful addition to our church's Candlelight service! |

JOYFUL NOISE
Something crazy - Something Quirky! The Senior High have been auditioned and are in the midst of learning a little groovin', be-bop and top chart hits. Joyful noise performs a Christmas Coffeehouse as well as their Spring Coffeehouse, which this year will guarantee a HOOT of a time!

LUAU
Every year as the summer ends and school is beginning we have a BLAST of a cool time near the pool....HAWAIIAN STYLE! It's our annual Luau welcoming in our new 7th graders and promoting our new 9th graders into Senior High!
It's a GRAND time had by all. With B-BQ and delicious hawaiian treats, it's a night of swimming, goofin' and welcoming new and old friends!!!! |

CAMP BEAR TRACK
Our Spring retreat in Drasco, Ark is a GREAT ADVENTURE! We enjoy a ropes course and mucho time to fellowship and enjoy life - it is awesome! We also have a chance on the zip line and bungee freefall and climbing wall! It's a HOOT! It's an exciting "no stress -chill out" weekend that's filled with football, carpetball, soccer, coloring, snoozing in the sunshine, foosball, pingpong, campfires, catch phrase and much more! Casual dress IS REQUIRED! It's a must to get away from the craziness of the school year! |

WET n' WORD
It's our summer Bible Study for all 7th -12th graders! We meet each Wednesday evening during the summer months to DIVE in deep into the Scriptures then DIVE into the deep end of the pool! It's a great and refreshing way to learn about our Christian faith and journey! |

SENIOR BANQUET
This is an evening set aside to honor all our graduating Seniors! The graduating Seniors and their families enjoy a lovely meal, have fun reminiscing, taking a few glimpses of their younger days and getting some encouraging words for their future. |

BREAKFAST CLUB
Ever want to get up at the crack of dawn just to come and eat a delicious breakfast with your friends at church? Well, as crazy as it may seem - IT'S GREAT!!!! It's a super way to start off your day to make it a bit more interesting! A "tasty" devotion is given and then you are driven to school before the bell rings! It's a favorite of our youth get togethers! Come on and bring your carpool too! Come hungry and thirsty and you just might be filled in your faith as well as your stomach! |

ANNUAL BIG PICTURE NIGHT
Each fall after promotion of our new 7th and 9th graders, the youth department has their annual pictures taken. The "BIG PICTURE" is taken to remember you by always and your individual picture is taken so we can remember your name and of course, chuckle as you "mature". It's a great night of piggin' out, signing up for youth programs, goofin' with friends and showing off your PEARLY WHITES! |

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our church is the distribution center for Memphis and the surrounding cities...that give the youth an awesome chance to get involved with this MOST EXCELLENT program. Shoeboxes are filled and bundled up right at our church and the youth always help out in providing boxes, help loading and unloading and also shipping them off in 18-wheelers! It's a great time of the year to get together! |

DINNER CLUB
The youth try to eat together at least once a month for dutch treat dining at different restaurants. We enjoy the fellowship and the break to be waited on. It's always a fun time to sit and talk about how life is going with friends. Each month is a different restaurant usually decided upon by the youth... YUM!!!! |

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE
Each year, the youth Bible study sponsors our Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM! Yow! On Easter morn, rain nor snow, sleet or hail will keep us from this celebration cervice! Youth lead the worship and music with a special message from a special guest speaker selected by the youth! The Crossroads Youth Choir and Joyful Noise and the Youth Bells perform and it is absolutely awesome - an incredible celebration for the risen Christ! |

CRAFT FAIR
March and November of each year finds us participating in our number one money-making project for the entire youth department. Our semi-annual craft fairs earn us that extra money to help with the costs of our youth trips, choir tours and A.S.P. service project! Lynn Thompson is the Crafts Fair Coordinator Each youth works hours at the fairs so that it runs smoothly and have earned a place on the bus wherever the youth may go! It is a VITAL part of our Youth Ministry fundraising! |

FOOTSOLDIERS
An exciting group of youth disciples whose desire is to be the hands and feet of Christ. It is an open group that discusses and works with Sarah Murdock, our Outreach Missions coordinator, to find place and service for the youth to get involved with. Each month the youth have available events to be servants at. We are involved with the United Methodist Neighborhood Center, Ronald McDonald House, Kings Daughter's and Son's Nursing Home, Target House, and many other causes and issues. It's a great way for our youth to work together for the glory of God helping others in any way they can! |

LAKESHORE JR./SR. HIGH RETREAT
Want to be a part of a wild, crazy insane weekend - well, the winter retreat for both our Jr. and Sr. High youth is where it happens. Retreat themes vary but all are fun and a great time to get together in Christian Fellowship. Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly is a beautiful place to get to meet youth from all over the Tennessee conference. It's a great time for old and new friends to fellowship! |

SKI TRIP
All BUMC youth can join us on the Colorado ski slopes with our Holiday Ski Trip. We have skied Gatlinburg and North Caroline and nothing acan compare with Colorado and skiing with the big dogs!!! Enjoy some massive skiing, awesome snowboarding and great fellowship! This is one of the coolest (no pun intended) trips to chill out (o.k.! already!) and enjoy the holidays with fun and fellowship and delighting in God's creation! It is absolutely breath taking (that is the scenery AND when you bust on the slopes :) Time to shred some NAR NAR! |

30 HOUR FAMINE
For the past 3 years our youth have been involved with a nation-wide famine hosted through World Vision. It is an incredible 30 hours of no food and GREAT FELLOWSHIP! It is 30 hours of awareness God's children less fortunate than ourselves in our very own community and all over the world. A definite highlight event of our youth! |

HOLY WEEK BREAKFASTS
Each year, the Youth Department holds Holy Week Breakfasts during the week prior to Easter Sunday. This is a time to gather before your regular school day to take time for fellowship and to learn from each other and our special guest speakers. We have special music and agapes for each day of the week - it's delicious hot breakfast too! What an exciting week to follow together Christ's incredible and humbled journey to the Cross. |

MADRIGAL DINNER
As the Bartlett UMC Life Enrichment Center transforms into a castle, the Crossroads youth choir, bells and ensemlbes are seated in the Kings court for a Medievil Holiday Celebration complete with costumes, knights, kings and queens , peasants and even a roast pig! (Yes! It's Real!) This even has become a church and community MUST SEE event! The youth voices and talents really shine! |

APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT
This is a project taken on by youth having graduated the 9th grade, older young adults and adults. Each year we take approximately 70 volunteers to the Appalachian mountains to enjoy new friends and new challenges. In A.S.P. our young people work making homes warmer, safer and drier. Most of all weshare a friendship and love to the less fortunate of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Our participation has gone on for 30 years and will continue this year with our 20009 mission trip in the mountains of Appalachia July 4th-12th! |

THANKSGIVING BASKETS and CHRISTMAS TOYS
We have collected money and provided needy families with food for Thanksgiving dinner as well as providing gifts for the children of Perea school and Reelfoot ministries families at Christmas. Last year was incredible with 120 Thanksgiving boxes delievered by youth for needy families. The youth also participate in the "Christmas Child" program in an awesome way! |

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
After church on Super Bowl Sunday our youth collect funds for our congregation to go towards "food" oriented service projects carried out by the Footsoldiers...we like to call it our Souper Bowl Blitz AND THEN... Each year we join in on the football craze with a HUGE screen TV and mucho munchies provided by our youth's parents. Talk about a throwdown on the field and also with the food! It's a great time to hang out with friends...check out the new TV commercials and hopefully enjoy the half-time show with no suprises! (ha!) Footsoldiers will be collecting funds after each service for our mission opportunities too! |

BABY-SITTING SERVICE
Each year, youth are invited to sign up to be listed as available baby sitters to our church membership. It is a super opportunity to get to know our church members as well as making a little extra spending money. Sign up for the service list at Big Picture Night. |
