Appalachia Service Project

The Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair in Central Appalachia. The mission was started by Tex Evans, a Methodist minister. Bartlett United Methodist Church has supported the ASP ministry for this being our 40th year. It is a VITAL ministry in the life of our church. All youth having graduated the 9th grade, college students and adults members and non-members are welcome to be a part of this amazing mission. Just a few days at ASP transforms the lives of those who come to serve. Those that serve at ASP return home with a passion for putting their faith into action with a renewed compassion for other people, and a fresh appreciation for your place and purpose in this world.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students in the U.S. and around the world unite to do the Famine. This year our Youth will be doing the famine on February 28th and 29th. They will learn about hunger, raise funds to help the hungry, and then go hungry yourselves for 30 hours. Through the Famine, our youth will  grow closer to Christ and each other -- all while helping to save the lives of hungry kids.    Please pray for them and consider making a donation for this event. You can designate the funding to particular youth sponsorship.   All funds will go directly to World Vision to help our brothers and sisters in Christ in need.

The BUMC Crafts Fairs are quality shows featuring crafters from all over the south. We have 80+ booths all located inside! The proceeds of the Spring Crafts Fair are used to support our Youth Department in their mission ministry with the Appalachia Service Project, the Youth Choir as they carry their ministry of music to other people and places, and the other Youth Department projects and outreach missions that come up during the year.

We would love for you to join us as a vendor or shopper!  Mark Your Calendars for March 20th and 21st.

Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia.  ASP provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to repair homes for low-income families.  Since 1969, we’ve made homes warmer, safer, and drier for families and provided transformational service experiences for volunteers.  Last year, 16,231 volunteers served with ASP, providing critical repairs for 493 families and constructing over 60 new homes.  This year will be Bartlett UMC’S 42nd year to be a part of this amazing ministry…won’t you join us!

Youth Lakeshore Retreat

If you were asked by Christ today the very question that he posed to the disciples how would you   respond? God is_______. What would you say there? Filling in that blank goes with who we believe God to be in our own lives through the way(s) in which we see God. Those views are so vast for all of us. The unique thing is we are created in the image of God. Therefore we have a glimpse of God's grandeur through a lens that can only be viewed through our personal relationship. We all have different stories and certainly different personalities  We want to invite you to share with us who you say God is and who we see God to be in our lives. Join us March 13-15th.   Deadline to register is Feb. 20th.
